• The Department of Construction Systems Engineering at Kookmin University (President Jeong Seung Ryul) has earned an S grade in the second year of the Digital Water Industry Innovation Talent Development Project. The 'Digital Water Industry Innovation Talent Development Project' is a project to foster innovative talents in response to the digital transformation of the water industry, and is being conducted for three years from the 2022 academic year to the 2024 academic year by the Department of Construction Systems Engineering, a water management domain major at Kookmin University.

• Recently, the global water environment has been changing dramatically due to climate change caused by global temperature changes. In order to predict and reduce water disasters caused by climate change, it has recently become important to foster Water-AI talents to converge technologies in the IT field such as big data, artificial intelligence, and digital twins in the field of water resources.

 In the second year of the last academic year, 2023, Kookmin University's Department of Construction Systems Engineering conducted various educational programs for undergraduate and graduate students, including reorganizing the regular curriculum to strengthen convergence education in the digital field, operating expert lectures and seminar programs, special lectures on the latest digital field (BIM) for construction systems majors, inviting experts to strengthen basic competencies in the digital field, and supporting students to take educational platforms (programmers). 

 we operated the 'Climate Change Water Resources Disaster Prevention' course in the Department of Construction Systems Engineering and the 'Introduction to Machine Learning' course in the Department of Artificial Intelligence, a major in the digital field, as a team class to train students from the Department of Construction Systems Engineering, a major in the water management domain, and students from the Department of Artificial Intelligence, a major in the digital field, to apply their expertise in digital-related fields to big data observed in the water field, such as precipitation, river or reservoir water levels, and river flow. 

 In addition, in order to innovate PBL-based education, the Department of Construction Systems Engineering established the 'Water-AI Capstone Design' course for students participating in the Water-AI major.

 An official from Kookmin University said, "The participating faculty and students are doing their best to successfully complete the third year of the project based on the know-how of the past two years of project operation." "We will also do our best to follow up on the digital innovation talents in the water field after the project ends by conducting career surveys such as graduate school, employment, and start-ups of the students who participated in the Water-AI major."
