Sustainable Procurement, Purchasing Policy
1. Introduction
Kookmin University respects the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which is the core of 17 SDGs adopted by the United Nations in 2015. Accordingly, Kookmin University aims to contribute to the sustainable development of society and the global environment by faithfully performing the role of higher education institutions such as education, research, and community cooperation through ESG management. Kookmin University launched a new Environmental Sustainability Vision, Policy and Strategy.
2. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that University members consider environmental, social, and economic factors when making purchasing decisions in all areas in which they are involved in the procurement of goods, services, and works. This policy applies to all University members and all businesses, and ensures that members fulfill their responsibilities.
3. Objectives
a. All processes are conducted in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
b. All administrative staff shall consider environmental, social and economic sustainability issues when making purchasing decisions.
c. Both suppliers and contractors should consider sustainability issues, and such factors should be reflected in the evaluation.
d. Consideration should be given to reusing or sharing existing resources before purchasing to promote sustainable practices.
e. Promote awareness of sustainable issues and considerations within the user community
f. Ensure that the university's purchasing process is fair in all its processes.
g. The university's sustainable purchasing and procurement policies are effectively communicated to the university and community.
As the other policies and strategies regarding the sustainability, this policy is directed by the university president assistant for the governance affairs.
To investigate the environmental and the social impact of applying the details of this procurement policy and the effectiveness of the practices derived from this policy, an annual report will be prepared.
Effective date
These Regulations shall come into force on September 1, 2023.
